Yellow

Yellow is my favorite color.  It has been since I was a little girl.
I have recently decided to totally change my room from the current whatever-we-can-get-our-hands-on theme, to yellow and grey.  I did find a nice Vera Wang bedspread at Savers a couple of weeks ago that is grey on one side and light blue on the other, so it is inevitable that pale blue will be part of the color scheme as well, but the majority of the decor is yellow and grey.

I have had this vase of silk hydrangeas in the master bedroom for years now.  They were still in pretty good shape, but didn't match my new colors.  Finally I took them outside and hit them with a touch of spray paint.

The flowers on the right are the original, the flowers on the left, the same flowers spray painted yellow.

I just held the stem out over the porch railing and sprayed in light bursts.  I didn't want the whole flower to be yellow.  Having some of the purple show through made them look more realistic.

The beauty of spray painting fake flowers is they really don't get that bad spray paint smell.  I let the flowers dry for a couple hours, but my impatience got the best of me and I had them in the vase in my room by dinner time :0}

Gorgeous!

Bought the vase 7 years ago at Target for $13.  I noticed they still have them for sale there and at basically the same price!

I had the flowers in my bathroom to go with the start of the yellow and grey...

Then took the red hooks off the wall and sprayed them yellow too.

They look great with the curtains I made last month.  Can I just tell you, I TOTALLY LOVE being in my room and bathroom now that I have the little yellow beams of sunlight all over the place.

Just a couple days after the flowers were finished, I found these two chairs and table at Goodwill for a steal.  We pulled the big ugly tattered chair out of the bedroom and moved these guys into it's place.  Once the table was there, it was only natural to move the vase to my bedroom so I could enjoy them a bit more often.

Love it.  I thought about painting the wood on the chairs, but I actually like the dark cherry colored wood with the pale yellow and grey.  They might just stay that way.  As for my favorite green picture, it is time to find a new home for it.  I already have a couple yellow replacements.  If you haven't checked out Hobby Lobby's home decor department recently, you NEED TO!  They have some awesome new pieces that are filling up my to-get list.

Once I get the bedspread and pillows worked out I will show you an update on my bedroom.  I found these two closet doors at IKEA in the bargain section.  I love how they look as part of a headboard...I just need to figure something out for the middle :0)  Hopefully I will decide on something soon.
