Maddy's Maken'

All I have been doing today is making and packing glue gun stands.  That is why I thought I would show you what Madison has been making.  She decided two weeks ago that she would rather be at home, doing school online, than fighting the yuck at the local public high school.  It takes a couple weeks to get all set up and started with the classes, so she has had TONS of time on her hands.  I have had her painting and gluing, cleaning and cutting.  Today, I simply ran out of busy work for her!

My sister Kallie asked Mads to make her some hair flowers/clips for her little 3 yr. daughter.  These are what she came up with.

Don't you just love these Halloween and Fall clips!?!
You want some, don't you.  Well, I might be able to talk Madison into taking orders.
We will see about that.  She will finally start classes this next week, but should still have time on her hands for creativity!

Here is a closer look...
This is a little monster she made out of a lace puffball.  She actually made a few of these last year as ear rings.  Silly girl.  They are adorable though.  Maybe you have to see them in person, but simply darling.

Cutest Frank I have ever seen

Pumpkins for fall

And my own Sofie the spider.  I had like 20 sitting around here and am finally out.  Mads made this one new for Kallie's girlie.

Super cute work from my own baby girl.  I am afeared that the time is short before
her creativity trumps  my own.  The girl has mad skills and she is only 16!

"Tangled" Hair

Emmers wanted "Tangled" styled hair the other day.  This is what I came up with.  I totally loved it.  The pictures weren't taken until AFTER church, so it is a little fuzzier than it would have been, but still totally cute.

Basically, I made two smaller french braids on the sides of her head and tied them off with rubber bands.  Then I did a bigger one down the center of her head and just braided in the smaller ones when I got down to them.  We hot glued paper flowers to bobby pins and added a little bling for good measure.

I had one happy princess thanks to the do ;0}

Mom, can you do Cinderella next time???

Hair Flowers...Done!

Wohoo!  What a fun day I had yesterday :0)
While watching some kiddos for a friend I sat on the floor and made yo-yos.  I have been wanting to make some hair thingys out of them for a long time.

First of all, I didn't make this one...Eli did!  I don't know what possessed him to want to make a hair thing, but he did it.  He probably spent an hour shuffling through the buttons and do-dads looking for the perfect middles for his flowers.  I think he did a great job.

This one was especially fun to make.  I had the pink satin flower pieces cut out in my scrap pile, so I figured I might as well melt 'em down and make them into a flower finally.  The middle was a broach that came with some outfit.  I just used my wire cutters, that magically happened to be in my box, to cut the pin off the back and then glued the gems to the flower.

Look how cut it looks in Madison's hair!

This big baby was another that I figured you would think was totally weird.  Here it is in Madison's hair too....
Isn't it cute!?!

And it can be worn on a belt or top of a shirt...

Love it!  One more massive project to mark off the list.

I would totally LOVE to see any projects you have recently finished.  Email me at vanessa.cam5@gmail.com your photos and I will show them right along side mine!!!
Remember, no project is too small ;0)
Sometimes its the smallest projects that take the biggest miracles to accomplish!

Clippie Madness 2013

Here is the first set of clippie samples for 2013!
I have to admit, I TOTALLY dislike coming up with new ideas!
Basically I have to lock myself in a small dark room with an IV of Mountain Dew and chocolate for about a week.

Here are the clips I came up with during last week's session of insanity.

I make my clippies, otherwise known as hair clips and ponytail holders, out of my endless drawers of stickers, clipart, photos, beads, brads, and charms.  Oh, and I use miniatures when they fit the themes.

I have two customers, both in Oman {country near Saudi Arabia}.  I will tell you, I have come to really be impressed with and Love the people of Oman as I have researched and created for these two ladies.

I make these samples, they ladies tell me which ones they like, and then I produce, usually 8 of each ordered design.  Both ladies have two daughters that wear 4 clips/ponytail holders in their hair at once {two clips up high, two ponytail holders at ponys or braids.

They only want specific themes, so other than the custom requests, I have orders to make school, sports, music, and technology related clips.

Whew!  I think I need a vacation now!  Actually, I really want to spend some time making valentine crafts!!!

After all that black and blue I really need to stare at some pink!

Filling Orders

There has been a lot less creative play and a lot more order filling in the Sew*CakeMaker house lately.  The Christmas Ornament vinyl and acetate ornament business has totally taken off.

Best news ever...
My custom die came!!!  I ordered this die cut from AccuCut last week, and here it is!  I cut an entire 24 dozen acetate ornaments in like 10 minutes.  Before it's arrival it took me ten minutes to cut about one dozen.  Oh what will I DO with ALL OF MY TIME!?!

I know...Clippies!

Here are the clippies I just finished.  I have been working on them in my spare time for months, but for the past two weeks I have been eating, sleeping, and breathing clippies around the clock {with the exception of our Thanksgiving trip :0}

These groups of four are all clay clippies that I made with fimo clay.  The first day Emmalee was sick last week, I sat next to her on the couch and made clay pencils for like four hours.  Fun, huh?

These clips are part of my felt order.  I stitched most of these back when we were in the hotel.  It is kinda funny to see them now and realize how much they remind me of the hotel.  Can I just say, those crayons were no fun at all.  I am just not a patient person and the crayons and I did not get along.

Personally, the mad scientist is a favorite.
The tape dispenser has a little strip of plastic that comes out of the roll and is attached where you would normally tear the tape.  I thought that was a fun little accent.

I also love the little girl in the "dressed for success" clip.  I made a little twirl skirt out of ribbon to make her uniform skirt stand out a little more.

These guys are some of my charm sets.  I bought the charms at Hobby Lobby.  I am sure the girls will get a kick out of the charms bouncing around while they walk.

This picture shows my favorite clip of this order, the music stand.

The sheet music turned out so fabulous.  I made three sheets of clay paper on both sides of the music book.  My oven runs super hot and likes to burn everything.  The white clay was a little more like parchment when I took it out.  I really like it though.  It has that classic, aged music look.
I also really liked this sticker clip with the desk and the books.  I thought it would be just another clip, but the books and tiny pencil are so adorable!

If you don't have a clue what these clippies are about, I have customers in the middle east that order these hair clips from me, usually in sets of 8.  The woman that purchased this order has two daughters.  They both wear 4 clips in their hair at one time.  Two clips on the head, two ponytail holders at the bottom of their braids.

My customers want only school related clips, but do include music, sports, and art as acceptable themes.
Now that I am all caught up on my orders, I guess it is back to the drawing board to make up some new ideas!  I am hoping for some big sellers since I have a hunk of money to come up with for Madison's marching band trip to the Rose Parade on New Years day.
Wish me luck!  It is gonna be a long week next week :0)

Novelty Print Quilt Pattern

I have had a hard time finding good quilt patterns for novelty prints the past couple times I purchased them.  I made up this pattern so tha...
