Kindergarten Craft Party

The last day of school before Christmas break I got to go into Emmalee's class and do a craft with the kids during the classroom Holiday Party!  As always I stewed over what craft to do with them for days, but finally decided to do these wooden snowmen made out of 2x4's.  The night before the party I was informed we needed the craft to take only 5 minutes to make from start to finish.  Haha!  I was totally up to the challenge.

Meet the class.  We divided the kids into 4 groups, so there were 5-6 kids per group.  I knelt down by the little knee-high table and started pulling my supplies from my Mary Poppins-like Ikea bag.  To make the snowmen finishable in such a short amount of time, Emmalee and I painted the snowmen white, the noses orange, and painted just the edges of the hat and scarf in their designated colors.  When the kids came to my table, they were to first put a paint shirt on, then paint the hat black and the scarf red.  I blopped some glue onto the white block where it needed to go, then let the kids put the thinner wood shapes into place and blot the black eyes with the end of a pencil.

I would have liked to have gotten some pictures of the crafting, but much like a tornado, the madness starts, somehow you survive, and then it is over...bits of craftiness everywhere :0}

Check it out though!  24 wooden snowmen started and finished in less than a half an hour by five year olds :0}  I love it.

The kids made these cute little guys at another mom's table.  So cute!!!

So, we ended with happy kids...

So proud of what they accomplished!

Now to decide what to do for the Valentine's Day Party...
