Pregnant Belly Cake

My friend Christina showed up at my house with an arm full of cake and a smile on her face.  She wanted to enter a cake decorating contest at the hospital.  She has worked in Labor and Delivery for many, many years and wanted to make a cake that represented her department.  What else could we do???  We HAD to make a pregnant belly ;0)

Cover your eyes!  This cake isn't dressed!  I carved the cake from two 9x13 cake layers stacked on top of  each other.  You could use those Hostess Snowball cakes for the top part, then bake the belly in a glass bowl like this...
Pampered Chef Batter Bowl if you are not too confident in your carving skills.

Christina found some little "feet" favors at the local cake store so we stacked two on top of each other and added the tiny kick to the belly.

Covering this cake was actually very simple!  With the sweet momma wearing a dress, we didn't even need to form the fondant at the bottom.  Super fast, Super sweet, and apparently,
this cake won first place!!!
Thanks for letting me help Christina!
